Who's the Target Audience?
The target audiences for this kit is beginning, intermediate, and advanced teachers of children from birth to age 8. This kit will introduce teachers to strategies for insuring sun-safe policies to prevent skin cancer.

Kit Timeline:
Preparation time for this kit is 1.5 hours. Implementation time is estimated at 1.5 hours

Training Outcomes:

1. Teachers will explain the health consequences of sun exposure for young children.
2. Teachers will describe the four steps to sun safety.
3. Teachers will construct a classroom sun safety plan.
4. Teachers will communicate the program's sun safety plan to families.

These training outcomes address the following professional standards:

• B7f of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998)
• 1 and 2 of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level (NAEYC, 2003).
• 1304.20(e)(4) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register, Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
