In taking a look at the non profit sector of the child care world, we see more than 30,000 centers providing valuable child care services for America's children. On the other hand, we see many of these centers struggling to survive, failing to meet even greater needs.
We also see tremendous diversity. We see glitzy suburban centers operated in pristine business parks as well as dingy urban centers operated out of store fronts. We see centers operated by churches, YMCAs, colleges, employers, public schools, social service agencies, and the Defense Department.
